Ode to Washington DC

ODE TO WASHINGTON D.C.

I took a trip this Spring
to Washington, D.C.
To see the Capitol City
of the great land of the free
The Memorials and the Monuments
were dazzling, bright and fair
and the cherry blossoms blessed the nose
with their fragrance in the air

The town was most exciting
And it really caused a thrill
While driving by the White House
I waved hello to Bill
But the trip was not fulfilling
And it caused me to remark
I wish I'd had a closer look
but I could find no place to park

The Capitol was splendid;
The Smithsonian best by far
I only wish I could have found
a place to leave my car
Yes, Washington was spectacular
morning, noon, or after dark
I saw it all as I drove by
For I could find no place to park

No Parking here, No Parking there
The traffic's really bad
They boot your tires and tow away
It made me fighting mad
The streets are packed. And the Avenues
With those circles that trap your car
Where tourists stare with frightened eyes
and don't know where they are.

The local folks will run you down
if your slow or faint of heart
So if you think you won't survive
then it's best you never start
I'd love to tell about my trip
that started as a lark
But I never really saw a thing
for I could find no place to park

Jack,
Your ode is right on about parking in DC. Fortunately, there really is ample parking around DC...during the rush hour on all interstates and major highways coming in or going out of DC!
